The purpose of administering a Competency Exam, at the completion of the required supervised practice hours and/or any additional learning modules, is to ensure that Participants are retaining knowledge gained from their Supervised Practice Experiences. It is also to demonstrate critical thinking skills that will be an important factor for passing the national registry exam.

28.2 - REQUIREMENTUpdated: 1/29/2019

In order to successfully complete the ISPP Experience, the Participant must score 70% or better on a final Competency Exam. If the score is less than 70% the Participant will have one (1) additional chance to pass the exam (a different exam may be used) one (1) week after the original exam.  A second failure will result in a required remediation plan, at additional cost and pursuant to a written Remediation Plan Agreement that shall be signed by both Participant and ISPP Coordinator. The Participant will have a one month period to prepare before taking the third and final exam. Failure to successful remediate under the Remediation Plan or to pass the Competency Exam on the third attempt shall result in removal from the ISPP experience. (see ISPP contract)
