33 - PROTECTION OF PRIVACY AND ACCESS TO RECORDS

As the Participant is not considered to be a student, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) does not apply. All efforts will be made however to keep any/all information provided by the Participant (application, CV, official transcript) confidential. While the University fully acknowledges the Participant’s rights of privacy concerning this information, it also recognizes that certain information is part of the public record and may be released if appropriate to do so.

33.2 - ACCESS TO RECORDSUpdated: 1/29/2019

Participant’s records will be maintained as follows:

  1. Electronically on a secure server (Preceptor Forms, LOAs, ISPP Agreement)
  2. Hard copy in the Departmental Office in a locked records roomed (Official Transcripts, Verification Statements)

Any request to review any documents in Participant’s file must be made in writing and must identify as precisely as possible the record or records he or she wishes to inspect. The ISPP Coordinator or Internship Director will make the needed arrangements for access as promptly as possible and notify the Participant when to expect said documents. Access must be granted or denied in 45 days or less from the date of receipt of the request.
